Capital One is a familiar name among the land of credit cards, but it also provides a full lineup of checking and savings options to individual and business customers. Not only does it offer online personal banking solutions, but you’ll find physical branches and convenient Capital One Café locations dotted across the country, for those who prefer the occasional in-person experience.
This financial powerhouse offers a personal online checking account, online savings account and multiple certificates of deposit (CD) options under the Capital One 360 umbrella. Currently, there are no specific Capital One promotions or bank account bonuses available, but it pays to check back frequently since a Capital One bonus for checking or savings could become available at any time. And even without a bonus, you might find a perfect banking solution that meets your everyday financial needs.
Vault’s Viewpoint
- Capital One does not have any current bonus promotions for checking or savings accounts, but this could change anytime.
- Past Capital One promotions demonstrate that the financial institution does occasionally offer valuable welcome bonuses for new checking or savings account customers.
- Capital One currently has a robust pipeline of credit card products offering welcome bonuses.
Overview of Capital One Checking and Savings Options
You’ll find a full suite of banking products and services with Capital One, which includes both checking and savings options.
Checking
Capital One 360 Checking is a fee-free online checking account. There is no minimum balance or deposit requirement and balances earn 0.10% APY. There are multiple overdraft protection options to choose from if you want to avoid fees, too. If you have a regularly scheduled direct deposit, then you may be eligible for early access to your paycheck (up to two days sooner). With access to over 70,000 ATMs nationwide and a user-friendly mobile app, this account may be a great option for those who prefer banking on-the-go.
There’s also a MONEY Teen Checking account, which is designed for kids ages 8+ and offers many of the same features. It has no minimum deposit requirement and no fees, offers optional parental controls, and includes a debit card for their use.
Minimum Deposit | $0 |
Overdraft Fee | $0 |
Monthly Service Fee | $0 |

Savings
Capital One has three savings account options to choose from: 360 Performance, 360 CDs and a kids savings account.
The 360 Performance savings account is a high-yield option, currently offering a 4.25% APY on any balance. There are no monthly maintenance fees or minimum balance requirements, and this online-only option allows you to track your savings through the mobile app. The Kids Savings account has many of the same features, but earns 2.50% APY on any balance.
Capital One 360 CDs come in a variety of term lengths, starting at six months and increasing all the way up to 60 months. These online CDs feature competitive interest rates, too, ranging from 4.00% to 5.00% APY. There’s no minimum deposit or balance requirement, and you can also choose how often you receive your interest payment (end of term, quarterly or annually).

Minimum Deposit | $0 |
Minimum Balance to Earn Interest | $0 |
Capital One Checking Account Bonus for 2024
Capital One has not yet posted any checking account bonuses for new or current customers for 2024. In the past, we’ve seen generous welcome bonuses offered, so it may be worth checking back often if you’re waiting for an additional incentive before establishing an account with them.
When Capital One does have a checking account welcome offer, it often includes bonuses for setting up direct deposit with “externally sourced funds.” This means the money can’t come from an existing Capital One account, but rather from another bank source. You’ll also find most promotions require a minimum number of qualifying direct deposits.
Capital One Savings Account Bonus for 2024
Capital One occasionally offers savings account promotions for new account holders. The most recent offer just launched in April of 2024. Here are the details of what it included.
360 Performance Savings–Up to $1,500
The latest Capital One savings promotion offers a bonus of up to $1,500 when opening a brand new 360 Performance Savings account on or after April 3, 2024. Not only would brand new account holders earn 4.25% APY with this high-yield savings account, but you could also earn a bonus with a minimum opening deposit of $20,000.
Here’s the breakdown of how much you could earn as a new 360 Performance Savings account holder :
- Minimum deposit of $20,000+ in external funds: $300 bonus
- Minimum deposit of $50,000+ in external funds: $750 bonus
- Minimum deposit of $100,000+ in external funds: $1,500 bonus
To take advantage of this offer, simply open an account online with the minimum deposit amounts listed above. You’ll need to use the promo code BONUS1500 to qualify for the promotion and supply your initial deposit within 15 days of account opening. There is a minimum 90-day hold on the deposit and then you’ll receive your bonus via direct deposit within 60 days after that.
While the minimum deposit of $20,000 is significant, earning up to a $1,500 bonus is greater than many offers seen with other financial institutions. Note that you’re only eligible for this promotion if you don’t have any of these other Capital One savings accounts:
- 360 Performance Savings
- 360 Savings
- 360 Money Market
- Savings Now
- Confidence Savings account
Capital One may not have any current checking or savings account promotions, but the credit card welcome bonuses are still going strong across multiple rewards credit card products. You’ll need to meet a minimum spending requirement for each, but if planned correctly, a welcome bonus can add a significant boost of cash back or points.
Here are the current welcome offers from some of our favorite Capital One credit cards:

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Capital One Promotions Taxable?
It’s worth noting the bonus you earn from a specific Capital One promotion for checking or savings accounts may qualify as taxable income. If you do earn a bonus, Capital One reports this to the IRS (and possibly to your state’s revenue authority) as interest income on Form 1099-INT.
Can I Qualify For A Capital One Promotion If I Already Have An Account?
Capital One only makes bonus promotions available to new customers. This means you must not have opened another Capital One account within a specified period of time. For example, customers who held a Capital One 360 Performance Savings, 360 Savings, 360 Money Market, Savings Now or Confidence Savings account were not eligible for the most recent savings account promotion.
How Do I See Capital One Promotions?
You have a few options when it comes to finding out about current Capital One promotions. You can always check the Capital One website directly to find any information listed regarding new checking or savings bonuses. You can also bookmark this page or search online for Capital One checking account bonus or Capital One savings account bonus. Lastly, you may receive a personalized promotional offer in the mail from Capital One with a special savings opportunity.
