They are a boiler room operation of high pressure sales and predatory tactics. To any creditors or lenders using this service, you are being mislead. They do not provide accurate information, and have poor security and dangerous policies. When I reported an issue, one of their customer service reps actually asked me to send him a photo copy of my ID in the mail. Unbelievable. Talk about identity theft. I reported to Experian and they did nothing. Another time one of my credit cards offered a special rate for purchases during a certain time frame, so I only used it one time and made a $160 purchase. What did Experian do? They dropped FICO by 27. It wasn't even enough to affect my credit usage % it was such a low purchase. Yet, when I paid off the $554 balance of that card, my FICO didn't budge by even 1 point. However, if you PAY and BUY their service you FICO will go up!!

An old job I had got it's data leaked, so they "provided" us with an Experian account to protect our data. It's been 3 weeks and I have yet to be allowed to enter my account. Every time I call I'm told that I've tried "too many times to log in" so I need to wait 72 hours. I try to log in a SINGLE time and that's apparently too many, so I wait 72 hours and don't even try to log in. Their response? "You've tried too many times to log in"... They refuse to let me talk to anyone above them in the company, so I'm stuck calling remote workers who have barely audible microphones with babies crying in the background. Someone just tried to get access to my Paypal account today, and I've received no assistance.

I have paid monthiy since Jan 2023. I noticed activity and found out someone had changed my Experian account information preventing me from accessing my own account. The email address and cell number was changed so I could not even reset the password. Customer Service was zero help and said I have to provide information in writing. I think it is a sad commentary when the very firm i paid to protect me, cannot protect itself. They now ask me to send all evidence to them (my SSN, DL, Utility, etc.) to provide proof that I have lived in the same address for over 20 years and am who I say I am, however they allow a thief access online to change data. What a terrible service provider.

A bunch of thieves. Offered a free service and then they took money out of my bank account without asking. Making it impossible to get it back. Now they are trying to charge me again. You have to wait over an hour to speak to customer service.

Of the 3 reporting agencies, Experian is sometimes up to 50 points lower. My score has more volatility than Bitcoin, and the site never explains why. First they get my information leaked onto the dark web, and then they want me to pay them for monitoring? They can’t even report accurately. After trying different numbers I was finally able to connect with a rep in the Philippines who had no interest in listening. When I asked for a supervisor she hung up. I can’t believe an organization run so poorly has so much power.

After a credit breach the monitoring was offered as compensation. Took all the time required and they fail because someone else breached their system. Worthless and simple. Carries no value. An investigation into why the business continues to operate shouldn’t be out of question.

I was given a free membership to Experian IdentityWorks due to the AT&T data breach. It is worthless. I got 8 emails in the last two days regarding my phone number being found on the dark web. All 8 emails refer to the same issue. So, I'm a little concerned. Part of the report gives option to contact customer care, however, the phone number that they give you 877-890-9332 only goes to their enrollment team, which I had to wait for 20 minutes to find out. So it was 100% no help. That person gave me 888-397-3742 which is an automated system that WILL NOT transfer you to a human being. So what is the point of this service? What a waste

I tried Experian free trial to look at my credit score. Then cancelled subscription immediately. This is the third month they have tried to take money out of my account. This is the third time I tried to cancel membership. I try and contact them and their automated phone service refuses to let someone talk to a human. They make it next to impossible to cancel and I still haven’t figured out how to stop them from trying to take my money. I tried to change to free membership to stop this and they still try and charge me. It is so bad that I refuse to add anymore money in that account till this stops. I guess the only route is to change my bank card. It is a shame. Do not use this company. Fair warning.

Experian will deceptively sign you up for its "Premium Membership" when you try to view your credit report (which is a free, legally-required service), by prompting you to add your card before you are able to view the report. There is no obvious option to decline adding your card and they claim you'll be charged $0.00 by providing them a card they have on file. So after some hesitation, you decide to get on with it, which grants you access to your credit report on the next page. However what you may have missed was that Experian had cleverly signed you up to the "Premium Membership" plan by signing up for a 7-day free trial, which is how they were able to get away with showing the $0.00 charge amount earlier on.

Follow me for a second: You, the wary consumer, are accustomed to sometimes adding your card in order to purchase a free service or product that's advertised for $0.00, so you assumed that this was for the FREE credit report. After you finish exploring and downloading a copy of your credit report, you decide to check your profile settings so you can make sure you are unsubscribed to all their email spam, when you notice that you have this $29.99/mo premium membership plan... You immediately update your plan to the free version, but just in case you're still charged, try removing your card they have on file. Except you can't. That option is not available.

Experian has a long, nightmarish existence and continues to find unique ways to scam consumers. This company has unfettered access to your personal information and are responsible to whether you are approved for a mortgage or apartment. They don't provide anything useful, accept offer services for solutions they had a hand in creating themselves. You can't refuse business with them, without finding the few financial institutions that don't use them. You can't forego, cancel, or otherwise to decline them access to your financial data in lieu of only using TransUnion or Equifax (also incredibly evil companies). So what choice do you have?

Until we're willing to reckon with these companies that make billions off of us, we'll have to continue suffering the consequences from their actions - data breaches, unfair reporting practices, and deceptive business practices, to sum up a few. We can't continue to let corporate malpractice operate like this, with nearly no meaningful accountability to the public.

Terrible. I used to like them. When they were accurate. Now, I’ve disputed a credit card that isn’t giving me credit accuracy, credit in general, and even changed the category to other despite the card still being active etc. I’ve disputed it numerous times and nothing changes. I don’t know why they have a before and after when nothing's changed. I even uploaded my Equifax report to show them and they didn’t even look at it apparently. It’s affected my score by almost 30 points. Equifax and Transunion both have more accurate scores and nothing for me to even dispute. I tried using the boost on Experian just to see if it’d work and it changed nothing. In the past, all this worked for me. I’m not sure what’s happened.
