The term is also applied to any system or theory of moral values or principles . . . Ethics deals with such questions at all levels. Its subject consists of the fundamental issues of practical decision making, and its major concerns include the nature of ultimate value and the standards by which human actions can be judged right or wrong.

    Santa Clara University - Markkula Center for Applied Ethics. In 1986 an initiative to provide a focal point for the ethics research and teaching that was already being carried on in various schools and departments was created. With a seed grant from Linda and A.C. "Mike" Markkula Jr. and the leadership of SCU Management and Philosophy Professor Manuel Velasquez, the Center for Applied Ethics was launched that Fall.
