    Growth Mindset Principals and teachers must work together to develop the learning growth mindset for students. First, as a school team find out where students are academically in all content. Set targets for all students but ensure that students understand that target is a desire for all. However, students also need to know that their data indicates where they are but a 5% or 10% increase over the start point is growth and should be celebrated.Secondly, teachers should set acceptable growth increments overtime and students should be responsible for their data which indicates their growth.Thirdly, quarterly celebrations for students who have reached their target.

    I feel it's not enough for us to be the only people teaching a growth mindset. In order for students to have true buy-in we also need parents to believe that as well. Too often parents see a child struggling as a bad thing and swoop in to rescue their child. But we know that a growth mindset means knowing that struggle is where we learn the most.
