I have taught a group of students which was a combination of new students, working people, mothers, and housemakers. This was challenging because every student was a different learning goal. So, I used to guide everyone regarding how our mindset plays a major role in our growth. We can follow these simple principles to create a growth mindset:->Never hesitate to try new things and explore yourself->Always believe in learning, unlearning, and re-learning->Adopt an attitude of gratitude, appreciation, and forgiveness->Be agile in developing yourself through feedback & criticisms->Only positive thinking won't work; integrate it with realistic thinking

Growth Mindset Principals and teachers must work together to develop the learning growth mindset for students. First, as a school team find out where students are academically in all content. Set targets for all students but ensure that students understand that target is a desire for all. However, students also need to know that their data indicates where they are but a 5% or 10% increase over the start point is growth and should be celebrated.Secondly, teachers should set acceptable growth increments overtime and students should be responsible for their data which indicates their growth.Thirdly, quarterly celebrations for students who have reached their target.

I feel it's not enough for us to be the only people teaching a growth mindset. In order for students to have true buy-in we also need parents to believe that as well. Too often parents see a child struggling as a bad thing and swoop in to rescue their child. But we know that a growth mindset means knowing that struggle is where we learn the most.
