@Dragonite
"Here's an example of something that I don't understand.
They bring Argentinean striker Gaich from San Lorenzo, pay 8.5M€ for him.
He is a starter in the first game and he scores.
In the second game he is in the subs bench and only plays 16'. Why?!
And then in the third game he once again is in the subs bench, and with FIVE substitutions, he still isn't used!
I don't understand this. "
Gaich had not one good move in the entire game - outside that goal.

babaluj1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 00:43 Dinamo must go for the victory in the group, in order to avoid the toughest opponents in the knockout phase. So beat all rivals if possible. Wolfsberg is still a bit weaker than the others in the group and they should definitely be beaten in Austria. Dinamo has not yet come to the right form, but I believe they will be much better in the next three games.
Curb your enthusiasm.
It's a fluke that Dinamo has won 5 points so far. In two of the three games their opponents had a player sent off. Feyenoord missed a penalty and Dinamo was harmless in that game. CSKA had 25 shots on their goal (competition record) and it's almost unbelievable that none ended in their goal. The WAC game was pretty equal without chances and probably would've ended 0-0 if it was a 11-on-11 game. I'm not sure what your optimism is based upon, because things tend to regress to the mean over a longer series of games. Dinamo has passed the group only once in their history, and failed numerous times. The one time they passed they played incredibly well. It's not the type of club that would scrape through past the group. We have decades of European misery to atest for it.

Dinamo sold half of the first team from last season, that is the main reason why they are not playing at the required level. There are problems with the midfield. They have good players, but they are not in Top form yet. But it is obvious that they are getting better from game to game. Now they beat Istra 5-0, and in the Europa League they are playing better and better too, I expect them to explode in the next three matches and win first place.

As we've seen numerous times in the past, wins in Croatian league do not mean much for Dinamo's European performance, especially against poor teams like Istra.
I have a sense that your optimism comes from inexperience. I'm not sure how many of these European seasons you have under your belt, but I've been following the failings of this club since 1993, which is the first season I can remember. Dinamo going out on away goals in Champions League Round 1 against Steaua Bucuresti, after winning the first leg away 1-2, is one of my first football memories. Only once in those 27 years this club survived in Europe past Christmas, and that was in the season when they absolutely destroyed the group from the get go and won it with 14 points. Dinamo is not a club that scrapes through in a tight group with lucky results in other games going their way. They have to crush it to go through. This is similar to Croatian national team on major tournaments - we either dominate and win the group or go out in group stage, there's nothing in between.***
I certainly hope you're right, though, but experience tells me otherwise.
***That's why I don't think will be able to get that coveted second place in our EURO 2020 group. We'll probably either beat England and win the group, or go out in the group stage.

In the last few years, Dinamo is the strongest in this century. Talking about the results 30 years ago makes no sense. The defense works well, the attack with Oršić and Gavranović is also good. The problem is in the midfield and the right wing. Kastrati and Petković are much worse than last year, and the midfield has not been adjusted yet. But it will come to its place, this Dinamo has not yet reached its maximum. I think Dinamo can win the group and go through the first knockout phase.

CSKA Moskva - Feyenoord 0-0
WAC - Dinamo Zagreb 0-3
8 pts - Dinamo Zagreb
5 pts - Feyenoord
4 pts - WAC
3 pts - CSKA Moskva
Very important point for Feyenoord tonight (despite again a red card). A win vs Zagreb at home and CSKA winning at home vs WAC would make Feyenoord qualify already

Agreed, this was an important point to get. Another game another red card but Feyenoord are not giving up and are still in the race

But, like vs. Zagreb, they should have won it, they had good chances on that. And so next week will not be that easy

CSKA still depends only on themselves. If they win the remaining 2 games, they will go through regardless of how other games go.
Dinamo can go through with 0 points if CSKA - WAC ends in a draw.
If it's not a draw, they will need at least 1 more point, but even 1 point may not be enough if it's won in Rotterdam, and CSKA and Feyenoord win their remaining matches. We'd then have a 9-9-9 circle between Dinamo, Feyenoord and CSKA, where Dinamo has the worst head-to-head tally.

The expected victory of Dinamo in Austria, the difference in quality was visible. By winning in Rotterdam, Dinamo wins the group.

CSKA Moskva - Feyenoord 0:0
Wolfsberg - Dinamo Zagreb 0:3
Winner:
Dinamo Zagreb 1.67
Feyenoord 2.62
CSKA 13.00
Wolfsberg 17,00
Another atrocious performance by CSKA against 10 men Feyenoord, but amazingly their fate is still in their own hands. If they win their next 2 games they're in regardless the other results. Dinamo easily beat the "villagers", greatly reducing their chances, but Dinamo should be careful, even with a draw away to Feyenoord they might come up short, while put the Dutch into the driving seat. In a 3 way tie Dinamo losing out on the H2H. Next round: Feyenoord - Dinamo Zagreb, CSKA Moskva - Wolfsberg.
Dinamo Zagreb 8
Feyenoord 5
Wolfsberg 4
CSKA 3

Most likely there'll be a final between Wolfsberg and Feyenoord on the last matchday. Lets say on matchday 5: CSKA - Wolfsberg 0-0, Feyenoord - Dinamo 1-1. Then we'd have: Dinamo 9, Feyenoord 6, Wolfsberg 5, CSKA 4. Very interesting group.

Dinamo is somehow the only team in CL and EL group stages that still hasn't conceded a single goal. Crazy.
What's even crazier is that only one (!) conceded goal may be enough to eliminate them!
Feyenoord - Dinamo 0-0
Dinamo - CSKA 0-1
and if CSKA and Feyenoord both beat WAC, Dinamo would be eliminated with 9 points and 1 conceded goal.
This has never happened in the history of football, but it would be such a Dinamo way to go out.

can't believe that Dinamo will go out. From all the teams in this group I've seen so far Dinamo was the best qualitywise. I hope they won't loose against Feyenoord so Wolfsberg get a PO match in round 6. Until then hopefully they will have recovered from their covid break. They looked really "down" against Dinamo after an hour.
